We join Les Schwab in honoring the commitment to our communities by COMPASSION CONNECT, a volunteer movement providing medical & dental care at home and abroad.
|Since 2008, the volunteer movement known as Compassion Connect has provided nearly $5 million dollars of free medical and dental services to over 20,000 individuals in twenty+ communities locally and as far away as Rwanda Africa. Annually nearly 4,500 local volunteers are mobilized into action. Communities being served locally are Tigard, Beaverton, North Clackamas, Oregon City, Sandy, Estacada, Gresham, Downtown Portland, North Portland, SE Portland, SW Portland, Vancouver East and West, Ridgefield and Washougal WA. Others communities implementing the models include Greater Phoenix. Those in the near future include: Tacoma WA, and Caldwell ID.|
|The core purpose of the organization is to see how lives and communities can be lifted and changed through the simple power of love expressed in action through unity and purpose. Our motto is “Uniting to Serve.” Our mission simply states: “Compassion Connect exits to create and share models of compassionate outreach that unify the church, locally, to serve their neighbors as authentic expression of God’s Love.”
The success of the Compassion Clinics has inspired more community efforts through various outreach models. Our model focusing on the prevention of anti-human trafficking is known as Abolition Now. This includes life-skills mentoring of at-risk teenage girls, a bridal boutique and the efficient coordination of community wide resources. More recently volunteers, churches and businesses are partnering with local DHS offices to serve our Foster Care system. These models continually lift up the values of collaboration and compassionate outreach.
In 2013 nearly 29,000 volunteer hours of community service and care where provided. Find more stories of Compassion Connects work here.
Each month, Les Schwab and Clear Channel Communities recognize a person who is helping to build a stronger tomorrow with their efforts in local communities and organizations.
