Three brothers in Northern California just hit what might be the ultimate attic jackpot: a pristine copy of Superman #1 from 1939, possibly worth more than $6 million.
While sorting through their late mother’s belongings during the holidays, they stumbled upon a small treasure trove of vintage comics hidden beneath old newspapers and cobwebs.
Among them were five early issues of Action Comics, the very series that first introduced Superman to the world. The comics had been tucked away for decades, perfectly preserved by California’s mild climate, and experts say they could set a new world record for comic book value.
The brothers, now in their 50s and 60s, said their mother always claimed she had valuable comics but never showed them. Now, Heritage Auctions calls the discovery “life-changing,” with collectors already buzzing.
