Retro Video: Stand Back by Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks's Stand Back dropped in 1983, four months after she married Kim Anderson. On her wedding day to Kim they were driving up the California coast when Prince's Little Red Corvette came on the radio. She started humming along to the melody, loving the synthesizers, and had written "Stand Back"before her wedding day was over.  Later, when Stevie went into the studio to record the song, she called Prince and told him the story of how she wrote the song to his melody. He came to the studio that night and played synthesizers on it, although his name is nowhere in the song credits. They did agree to split the publishing royalties 50-50. Then, she says, "he just got up and left as if the whole thing happened in a dream."

And that's how this dance/rock record came to be. And I'm pretty sure it's the the only time Stevie employed dancing dudes in Members Only jackets.

Stevie's inspiration and synth dude...
