Weather Delays Impact Washington Mass Vaccination Clinics

Winter weather shipment delays across the nation have forced the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) to close the four state-led mass vaccination sites this weekend and some locations will be impacted next week.

Due to storms out east, most Pfizer vaccines will not arrive until Monday. Moderna expects to deliver its backlog throughout the early part of the week and no later than Wednesday.

Despite the delivery delays, the mass vaccination sites have continued to successfully vaccinate thousands of people each week. Thanks to the hard work of DOH staff, the Washington National Guard, and local and private sector partners, 50,362 people have received their COVID-19 vaccine at state-led mass vaccination sites since they opened January 26, which includes:

  • 11,772 in Spokane
  • 14,327 in Ridgefield
  • 12,252 in Wenatchee
  • 12,011 in Kennewick

This week, many of the sites will focus primarily on second doses to ensure Washingtonians are fully vaccinated.

Please note, hours and registration information are different for each location and they may be different than in weeks past. Schedules may change depending on when vaccine is delivered to the state. Please continue to follow DOH, your local health department, and local news for updates.

Ridgefield currently has enough vaccine to open Tuesday. If the site receives its allocation before Wednesday, it will be fully operational next week and prioritize second doses. Those who were vaccinated at the site were sent an email from Safeway after receiving their first dose. If you were unable to get a second dose appointment or confirmation email, you can bring your vaccination card and ID to the fairgrounds and staff on site will honor it.

Location: Clark County Fairgrounds (17402 NE Delfel Rd., Ridgefield, WA 98642)

Hours: Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
