Stacey & Mike's Happy News: There's $128k Cash In Bag Next To ATM, What Would You Do?

Imagine walking up to an ATM and finding a bag with $128,514 in cash just sitting on top of it. That’s exactly what happened to a 37-year-old barber in Lewisville, Texas.

He and a woman were stopping to withdraw some money when they spotted the bag, along with another bag containing 19 checks. Instead of seeing it as the luckiest ATM visit ever, he tried to figure out who it belonged to, even driving to a nearby Chick-fil-A because information on the bag suggested there might be a connection. When that didn’t solve the mystery, he called the police.

And here’s the best part: every single dollar was still there. Police counted the money twice and confirmed the full $128,514. Investigators eventually discovered that the cash belonged to Bank of America and had accidentally been left behind after a Brinks technician serviced the ATM.

The money has now been returned, and Lewisville police would like to recognize the anonymous man for his honesty. The police chief said his motivation appeared pretty simple: he just believed returning it was the right thing to do.
