Stump The Jock

posted by Bruce, John and Janine -

On Friday K103 listener Misty Merida from Battle Ground failed to stump Mr. Smarty Pants with this question:

Question:  Where did the word ketchup originate from?

Answer:  Ketchup comes from the Hokkien Chinese work, ke-tsiap, the name of a sauce derived from fermented fish.  It is believed that traders brought fish sauce from Vietnam to southeaster China.
