Meet Angela Rose, Living With Metastatic Breast Cancer
Angela Rose is a healthy, athletic, active woman who found out she had breast cancer when she was 34-years-old...at the time, her daughter was only 4. It wasn't easy, with five months of chemo and a bilateral mastectomy, followed by radiation and reconstruction. She tried to put it behind her, and went back to work as a nurse practitioner...but four years later she experienced extreme fatigue, nausea, and tenderness on the side of her skull, and went in for scans. The scans showed cancer in several places; she was diagnosed with metastatic disease; something she will live with for the rest of her life.
(Metastatic breast cancer is advanced, stage 4 breast cancer, where the patient experiences secondary tumors, and where the disease has spread to distant sites beyond the lymph nodes under the armpit)
