Stump Bruce on May 3, 2019

On Friday, K103 listeners Doug & Susan Watson from Banks managed to stump Bruce with this question:

Question: Cinco de Mayo or May 5th is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puelba during the Franco-Mexican War. What was the REASON for the conflict?

Answer: Money. In 1861, France, under Napoleon III, refused to negotiate payment of Mexico's debt, and invaded Mexico to collect it.
