Portland's New "Mysterious" Statue in Mt Tabor Park is of York

Mount Tabor Water Reservoir

Portland's Mt Tabor Park has a new statue that replaces a toppled one of Harvey Scott; York! York was a slave of explorer William Clark, an unsung hero of the "Core of Discovery" expedition. He's also the first African-American to cross the continent and reach the Pacific Ocean. What makes the bust of York "mysterious" is that it was placed atop the pedestal of what was the Harvey Scott statue in the dead of night last weekend by "unknown persons". It looks like it's going to stay. Check it out here and then go see it in person at Mt Tabor Park like me!
