I unknowingly went to the Grand Opening of Steeplejack Brewing Company on Saturday evening, thinking it had been opened for a while. There was a crowd standing outside when my friend and I arrived, waiting to be seating. So while we were waiting our 40 minutes for a table, we checked their website and found out it was Grand Opening day...no wonder. You may have seen it on local news or read about it in The Oregonian, it's a Brewery & Pub in the old 112-year-old, former Metropolitan Community Church of Portland on NE Broadway. It's been beautifully converted into a restaurant, coffee bar and brewery, and is really worth seeing. The brewmasters are both women, and the IPA I had was tasty. The service and food need work but hey...it was their Grand Opening...so I give them a break. I'll definitely go back, if for nothing else, the room!
