My Garden's Finally Popping...Tomatoes & Pears!

It's interesting, for as hot as it's been this summer, it's taken forever for my tomatoes in my backyard garden to ripen. Now suddenly they're going bonkers, and I'm in tomato heaven eating Caprese almost every night. I also grow basil, so besides the mozzarella, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar, I'm set to go. I also have a beautiful Seckel pear tree, that I named Peggy. (I find when you name growing things you talk to them more & that makes them happy.) I had Peggy "orchard pruned" in early spring, meaning the arborist took half of the very tall tree, off. I couldn't reach much of the fruit last year because it was up so high. This summer I have an abundance of fruit, some in clusters of ten, and I'm not exaggerating! Last year I used some of the fruit to make pear infused vodka and pear liquor. The liquor wasn't bad, but the vodka needs some work. I'll let you know what I do with them all this year...I will have A LOT!
