I Know That Song! The One Where They Couldn't Find A Rhyme for "Magic"

This 1981 song was actually written in '76 by a British trio. It went to #1 in the UK but was stuck at #3 in the US, locked out of that top spot by Foreigner's "Waiting for a Girl Like You" at #2 and and Olivia Newton-John's #1 smash "Physical".

The drummer recalls the singer spending years trying to come up with a word that rhymes with "magic." The only word he could come up with, apart from 'tragic', was 'pelagic', which means 'ocean going'. The drummer says “There I was in my leather pants and punk hairdo, pondering the distinction between ocean-going and river-going fish.”

The drummer of course is Stewart Copeland, the singer Sting and guitarist Andy Summers make up The Police.
