Today's song went to # 8 in 1983. It was originally written by Burt Bacharach recorded as a demo by Dionne Warwick in 1963, making her the very first to record the song. It’s since been recorded by 20 other artists including Johnny Mathis, The Four Seasons and Brenda Lee but the most popular and successful was the 1983 version from these new wave lads from England. 

In Brazil, the song was included on the international soundtrack of the soap opera Guerra dos Sexos/War of the Sexes in 1983. 

The singer tells the story of recording at the world famous Abbey Road studios when the band got invited downstairs to a party and met Paul McCartney. He was on such a high from meeting him he ran upstairs and recorded the vocal for this song in one take. He’d never done that in his life.
