Today's song comes from the German film Zweiohrküken, which is the sequel to the film Keinohrhasen. This song was ALSO featured in American television shows like 30 Rock, Gossip Girl, Lost, Nikita and CSI: Miami and appeared in the Disney film The Sorcerer's Apprentice. And it didn’t stop at tv and movies! The song also used to launch the "Big Pony" fragrance line for Ralph Lauren!
The band itself, formed in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1996 when the two founding members befriended each other during their senior year at Colorado Springs Christian High School. The band had a rocky start with a series of stops and starts and a few breakups before reuniting in 2002.
Nine months later, the band signed with Columbia Records. The band's name was changed by adding the word “one” to their former name, after the record company mentioned that the former single word name might result in legal action from other, similarly named bands. The band soon got to work in the studio for two and a half years to record its first full-length album.
Two months before their very first studio album was due to be released, today’s band was dropped by Columbia Records. But at the same time, the band was beginning to gain prominence on MySpace; the band said it was the number-one unsigned act on MySpace, and credits the website for keeping the band together.
The band caught the attention of a number of labels, including Timbaland's Mosley Music Group. The band soon signed onto the label, becoming the first rock band to do so.
