- Puzzles. I'm such a puzzle nerd. I love a good, colorful 1000pc.(pic above is the one I just got, can't wait to open it!) It's a great family activity because you're busy looking down finding puzzle pieces and conversation just flows so easily.
- Cooking, baking, decorating Gingerbread Houses. Have each child find a recipe (online, from a family cookbook) and write a list of what ingredients to shop for. Then take them shopping to find the items and depending on their age, let them prepare and cook a meal. What I love is that "Gingerbread" Houses have become so popular year round. You can go to Target or Michaels for almost every holiday and find some to decorate with your kiddos.
- Watching TV together. My sons and I have had "our shows" since they were toddlers. We've gone from Teen Titan Go! to Phineas & Ferb (Dr. Doofenschmertz!) to Gilmore Girls, The Flash, Arrow & Star Wars Rebels and now more grown up content. But we'll always have those memories and common references.
- Reading. Let the littles pick a book to read to them. If you've got older kids I LOVE when everyone grabs a book, we put on the fireplace, get cozy and read! I grew up in a house filled with books thanks to my mama! And though I sometimes read on a kindle now, I do have full bookshelves now in my own home in the hopes that if someone is bored they will peruse and grab one. (Still waiting on that to happen. LOL)
- Board games, Pictionary and cards. The biggest laughs as a family happen when playing games. What is your family favorite?
