Haunted House season is here! The Fear PDX Haunted Houses are open starting this weekend.

The MAIZE, on Portland’s Sauvie Island is celebrating the 75th anniversary of Charles Schulz’s Peanuts, with a Peanuts-themed corn maze for 2024. There’s lots to do there. The farm offers the pumpkin patch, the Big Red Animal Barn with several furry and feathery friends, a fresh produce market, hayrides, bonfire rentals, a cow train, cottage gift shop, and antique tractor displays.

The Belmont Street Fair, held annually on the 2nd Saturday of September from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., is one of the largest-attended street fairs in Portland. With food and retail vendors of all kinds, show-stopping performances and live music on 3 different stages, and the return of the Kids Zone.

The 46th annual GRO Parade of Homes, a showcase of the Pacific Northwest’s finest home architecture, design, and construction, September 6-22, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Reserve at Lake River in Felida, Wash.

Feeling a beach trip? The Port of Garibaldi Seafood and Spirits Festival will take place overlooking the Port’s marina and the beautiful Tillamook Bay.

After a five-year hiatus, members of Portland Fire & Rescue hope to defend their 6 and 0 record against Portland Police officers in a charity soccer match. It'll be held this Saturday at Providence Park. Gates open at 6 o'clock and the match starts at 7. It's a fundraiser for the firefighter's Toy n' Joy Makers and the police officer's Sunshine Division. Both agencies will have historic emergency response vehicles on display. Entry is free with a small toy or non-perishable food item.

SPORTS

Are you wearing green or orange this weekend? With conference realignment shaking up the college football landscape, the Civil War game, now called the Rivalry series, will be played this weekend instead of Thanksgiving weekend. Number six Oregon will play Oregon State on the road in Corvallis Saturday at 12:30 on Fox.

Speaking of rivalries, the matchup between the Huskies and Cougs has been going down for 124 years and it's also typically played on Thanksgiving weekend. Number 22 Washington hosts Washington State in the "Apple Cup" on Saturday at Lumen Field in Seattle at 12:30 p.m. You can stream it on Peacock.

The Thorns are playing the Chicago Red Stars at Providence Park Friday at 7pm at Providence Park.

The Timbers are on the road in Colorado playing Saturday at 6:30pm on Apple Tv's MLS season pass.

Mike: I'm watching a lot of movies with my son. We are deep into Guy Ritchie territory (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels)

New in theaters: The horror film "Speak No Evil" starring James McAvoy (YIKES!) and the action film "The Killer's Game" with Dave Bautista.
"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" is projected to take first for the second straight week with 45-million-dollars.
