Training your dog is tough work that requires diligence and persistence. Training your dog to be a therapy dog is an entirely different level of dedication.
That's how 12-year-old Lily Prasek of Prineville felt about her Golden Retriever, Sunny, so at just 11 years old, Lily decided she would start training Sunny to be a therapy dog.
Sunny is four years old and cute as can be. His calm demeanor is all thanks to Lily’s unwavering commitment to share Sunny’s love with as many people as possible.
When Lily earned her junior handler certification, she became one of just two ATD junior handlers in Oregon. Elizabeth says her daughter is the youngest ATD handler in Oregon.
Lily wants to expand their volunteer portfolio and is hoping the two of them can volunteer at St. Charles once she’s 16 years old, the minimum requirement at the hospital.
