Stacey & Mike's Happy News: Teens Save Restaurant When Owner Hospitalized

When tragedy struck Urban Olive & Vine in Hudson, Wisconsin, the restaurant’s youngest employees rose to the occasion in a way no one could have imagined.

After co-owner Carol Trainor collapsed from a grand mal seizure in September and spent the next eight months in the hospital, the teens they’d hired, about 30 in all, ages 14 to 18, quietly took over.

They opened at dawn, trained each other, cooked, prepped, handled office work, even did the shopping, all without being asked. For months, they ran the business so Carol’s husband could focus on her.

Though Carol passed away in May, the love and loyalty she inspired lived on. The teens she and Chad had supported returned that kindness tenfold when it was needed most.

Today, Urban Olive & Vine stands not only as a thriving restaurant, but as a testament to what happens when community and care come full circle.
