A 20-year-old man says he’s alive today because of his faith…and the gold cross necklace he was wearing. Aidan Perry was visiting a friend’s apartment to watch a UFC fight when he was suddenly shot point-blank in the chest.
The bullet struck his necklace, shattering the cross and deflecting the shot just enough to spare his heart. The round still tore through his chest, exited near his armpit, and reentered his arm, breaking his arm, but doctors say without that necklace, the outcome would have been devastating.
For Aidan, the broken cross has now become a symbol of something far greater. He said the experience has only deepened his faith
The man who fired the shot was later arrested and charged, but Aidan is focused less on that and more on gratitude, for his survival, for the faith that carried him, and for what he sees as a divine reminder that he was meant to keep on living.
