A simple hallway experiment in a small Ohio school went viral when the Monroe Local School District set a lone microphone in the middle of a busy corridor and invited students to share something good that had happened to them.
What followed was a stream of honest, joyful little moments. Each tiny confession felt like a small burst of hope.
Behind the camera was Adam Marcum, the district’s communications lead, who laid out the mic along the school’s “Main Street” and later found himself moved to tears while editing the clips together. His wife, a teacher in the district, cried too.
Watching all the stories flow back-to-back made it clear that today’s teens are far more open-hearted and optimistic than the stereotypes suggest.
