A pizzeria owner in the Bronx is getting national attention for one very simple act of kindness. Daniel Romano, who owns D. Romano’s Pizza in the Throgs Neck neighborhood, saw a woman taking food from his trash and immediately brought her inside.
After that, Daniel put a handwritten sign in the window telling anyone who is hungry to come inside, and he will give them a free slice and fresh water.
He says the idea comes from something his late mother used to say: a desperate person will make a better decision on a full stomach than an empty one.
Since the story spread, people from all over the country have called the shop wanting to pay for slices for others.
