Feeling restless after her husband retired on disability, 50-year-old Loraine Maurer decided to get a job at a McDonald's in Evansville, Indiana. That was in 1973, and on Thursday, the restaurant makes Maurer’s 44th year on the job with a celebration.
Maurer gets up at 3 a.m. to work the Friday and Saturday breakfast shift, and is grateful to the Golden Arches for helping her cope with the death of her husband in 1980. "They were my live savers when I lost my husband," she tells ABC News. "The customers helped."
