Body Found Following Tuesday House Fire

A house fire near Troutdale on Tuesday has turned into a death investigation.

The house is located on Woodard Road. Firefighters were called at 12:12 a.m.

When firefighters arrived the house was fully involved and the roof was starting to fail.

A neighbor indicated that there was a resident still inside the home.

After the fire was substantially knocked down, firefighters began to search for the missing resident and the cause of the fire.

Firefighters got information during their initial search and they asked the Oregon State Fire Marshal and the Gresham Fire Department to help determine the cause of the fire.

As investigators worked into Tuesday evening, a ladder truck was called in from Gresham to provide an overhead view of the scene.

As investigators were going through the house they found human remains.

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner is investigating to determine the cause of death and the person’s identity.

The fire cause investigation is still ongoing.
