Construction crews take a step forward on Monday to complete a new MAX pedestrian and bike bridge in Southeast Portland.

The pedestrian and bike bridge spanning the MAX tracks from SE 14th Avenue north to SE 13th Avenue at Gideon Street is part of the MAX Orange Line project.

Located near the Clinton St/SE 12th Ave MAX station, the 140-foot long bridge will create an additional, safe, ADA-compliant crossing over the tracks for people on foot, bike or using a mobility device.

On Monday morning, crews from Stacy and Witbeck, Inc. will raise up and put in place the tower at the south end of the bridge.

It's an important milestone before crews set the main span in place in February.
