Harrison Ford has proved time and again that it doesn't matter how much a character ages (Han Solo, Indiana Jones) if audiences loved them before they will love them again. Tom Cruise is kinda banking on that as his Maverick character's return to the big screen has been pushed back another year to June 2020. Top Gun: Maverick was originally intended to drop July 2019, 33 years after the original Top Gun. and early production was to resume next month with recently added cast members Jon Hamm and Ed Harris (in unspecified roles).
Lest anyone thing egos or script problems are the reason for the delay, Paramount released a statement saying the extra time is to give filmmakers the opportunity to work out the logistics of the flight sequences with new technology and planes.
