Portland Police Bureau Assault detectives, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, are asking for the public's help in identifying a hit and run assault suspect that seriously injured a 20-year-old Conor McMahon.
On January 1, 2014, at 3:34 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to North Lombard Street and Jordan Avenue on the report of an injury crash. Officers arrived in the area and located 20-year-old Conor James McMahon down in the street suffering from serious injuries. Witnesses told police that a vehicle appeared to intentionally strike McMahon then continue driving eastbound on Lombard Street. McMahon was transported to a Portland hospital for treatment to his injuries.
Investigators have learned that the McMahon and a friend were waiting for a ride at the intersection of Lombard and Jordan when a vehicle pulled up to them and asked if they needed a ride. McMahon and his friend declined and the vehicle pulled away westbound, did a u-turn then sat idling in the street approximately one block to the West. The driver then accelerated and drove eastbound striking McMahon as he stood in the street, who stepped out to look down Lombard for their ride.
The suspect is described as a male white, Hispanic or Middle Eastern, 35 to 40 years old, dark, short hair buzzed on the sides, and a slight mustache and goatee.
The vehicle is described as a medium to dark-colored Dodge Caravan or similar model vehicle with two front doors and a rear slider and it appeared to have a fare meter (similar to a taxi) on the dashboard.
