K103 and Concordia University are pleased to honor and support outstanding educators making a difference in the lives of students in their schools each month. Congratulations to this month’s honored educator, Sheryl Born, 2nd Grade Math & Science Teacher at Marrion Elementary in Vancouver, Washington!
Ms. Born was nominated by parents Amber Zirkle and Teryn Heredia. Amber had this to say:
Ms. Born commits everything she has for not just her students, but every student at her elementary school. She creates a safe, trusting and open environment for many students who struggle with different learning and emotional difficulties. Beyond her regular work day, she has created an after school Art Club, which she organizes and runs all on her own. When art club is over, Ms. Born can be found volunteer coaching the schools soccer team and track team. She is even around for those during summer school. These are only some of the things I know she does. There is more. I don't know how she finds the time, as a single mom, but she does it all. And she has the heart of a woman, mom, and teacher that spreads so much love, caring, and kindness to not only her students, but everyone she meets. Sheryl is Joy.
Congrats, Sheryl, from all of us at K103!
