It all started recently when I bought a piece of Dodero pottery from the artist, John Dodero who lives in Jacksonville, Oregon. I'd heard of Jacksonville, because a friend who passed through there mentioned it was "really great"! So, I started investigating, and after reading about Jacksonville's history, the whole town is designated a National Historic Landmark, largely due to it's role in the 1850's gold rush. They're also known for their wine with their Applegate Valley Wine Trail with 20 small, intimate wineries. From my research, I'd say they're doing well as a place for "foodies" too, with some pretty amazing-looking restaurants. Jacksonville here I come!
