The cheapest flights this year leave from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida. Last year, the average airport price was $233.36. Orlando International Airport, Florida, had the second-lowest average cost at $241.01. Harry Reid International Airport averaged $247.53 for airfare. Miami International Airport ($263.76) and Tampa International Airport ($270.88) round out the top five.
Dulles, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and Detroit Metro Airport have the highest average airfare. Dulles and San Francisco had average airfares over $400, while Detroit Metro's was $366.33. FinanceBuzz notes that the average fare at these three airports is $150 higher than at the three cheapest. Portland International Airport ($364.40) and John F. Kennedy International Airport ($360.94) round out the top five.
