Less than a week after announcing his sophomore effort, Illuminate, Shawn Mendes has unleashed the music video for his new single, "Treat You Better" on Tuesday afternoon (July 12), and it takes a stand against domestic violence.
The four-minute visual finds Shawn held up in an apartment as scenes of his female interest getting disrespected and physically abused by her own lover are thrown into the mix. Cue Shawn's stance. He can treat her much better. Head up, Team Mendes. He's also showing off some major acting chops and just a little bit of skin in the clip, too.
At the end of the video, we're left wondering whether or not the female stays with her boyfriend as well as the telephone number for the National Domestic Violence hotline.
