Jantzen Beach is losing it's only grocery store this summer! Safeway announced they would close the under performing store June 9 and let it's 75 employees know that they will try to place them at other Safeway locations. This is a huge blow for Hayden Island residents who will have to come into NE Portland or cross the Columbia river to shop in Vancouver. Safeway owns the property and said it's premature to discuss what they will do with it. Really?
