Holiday Dance Party To Benefit Music In Schools

Let me tell you a little story. Its about music.  I grew up in a musical household and knew somehow, some way it would be how I would make my living. When a psychic told my mom I would make money with my voice I tried to become a singer. Nope, that wasn't it. Later I would find my passion in speaking and entertaining in a different way. Still using my voice but not fulfilling my high school senior class prediction of "Future Rock Star". Oh well.

I want to make sure that my boys, and all kids, are able to learn about music. To be exposed to all kinds of music, and if they want, pursue their own musical path.

In 2012, when all three of my boys were attending a Beaverton K-8 school, music education was taking a hit due to budget cuts and time restrictions. That's when Music Workshop was born. A small group of dedicated parents, teachers and musicians (right here in our town!) worked together to create a music education program that would help bring music back into the schools; a free-of-charge program that any school could have and teach no matter their means, location or teacher expertise!

In 2013 10 Oregon schools signed up to give music workshop a try. This time last year 325 schools were teaching Music Workshop in 10 states and 3 countries… now there are over 900 schools teaching Music Workshop courses!!

And they teach it all from Jazz to Rock, R&B to Classical and Piano to guitar. Music Workshop is currently educating over 350,000 students located in 43 states and 13 countries.

The “Inspire Bash” is Music Workshop’s annual fundraiser. The event is a spectacular dinner and dance party taking place at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, OR on November 10, 2018. Kicking off the event will be a VIP dinner that will be held in the grand ballroom at the MAC starting at 6pm. This dinner will only be available to 150 guests. At 8pm, dance party guests will join the VIP dinner guests for the live music dance party. Dancehall Days will perform musical hits from all genres and eras. In addition to the music, there will be a raffle, Board of Inspiration and live red carpet photo booth.

DUDE! It's a blast, and I hope to see you out there on the MAC dance floor supporting our kids and the world that music opens up for them!

Check out my sons at band practice. They are hoping to perform 7 Nation Army by White Stripes at the school talent show with their buddy. Practice Practice Practice Boys!
