Eric Kim is a junior at Sunset High in Beaverton. And he was concerned for those hard-of-hearing who rely on lip reading during this time of everyone wearing face masks. That's why Eric started making clear masks.
The Sunset High junior is also a counselor at a summer camp for children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Eric says "I saw on the news that a college student in Kentucky was making these clear masks," That person shared their design online so he got to work. "It actually takes a lot more time than I thought, maybe because I'm bad at sewing,"
Of the 11 he’s made so far Eric says the most meaningful were for a married couple that was close to giving birth, so they were going to the hospital really often. They wanted to use this to communicate with their doctors more effectively. I was happy to be able to contribute to that,"
YAY ERIC! Thank YOU!
