Saturday was my first kayaking day of the year & I went to Ridgefield Bachelor Slough & Island with a couple of friends. We were just turning back after a couple of hours on the water when an Eagle flew just over one of my friend's heads & landed on a log literally just feet from us. We all stopped paddling & just sat there, very quiet, in awe. He proceeded to drink water, flap his wings & look at us, but didn't seem intimidated in the least. This went on for about eight minutes; he was pretty thirsty. Then he was done & just flew away. We followed him on the water & watched him pick up a small branch from the water & fly into the trees where we could hear his babies squawking. It was pretty incredible!
