The new telling of “Pinocchio” that Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro is filming in Portland will feature the voices of Cate Blanchett, Ewan McGregor, Tilda Swinton, among other stars.
The setting is supposed to be in Italy. Does Portland have that old European vibe? I'm not sure, but they will maybe be able to pull it off. Most of the movie will be animated anyways.
While del Toro has been in Portland periodically for the filming, it’s not clear any of the stars will be here. Animated productions frequently record their cast voices elsewhere.
Netflix has not announced a release date for “Pinocchio” or said whether it will be in theaters before it begins streaming.
