These stories always make me cry, in a good way! To see a little one hear or see clearly for the first time is such a miracle. As it was for 4 year old Sawyer Lenglin when he heard his family for the first time after undergoing cochlear implant surgery in Toronto, Canada.
Sawyer was diagnosed with Pendred syndrome and has been deaf and hard of hearing since birth. His mom, Christina, said she wants her son's story to bring light to access issues surrounding hearing surgery and American Sign Language (ASL).
In Canada, surgery and the first set of cochlear are free, and every five years thereafter.
