Sophia the duck wouldn't have made it through the winter this far without a companion, so her community stepped up to find her a match.
Lyndsey Fleser and her kids were home to two companion ducks, which her daughter named Sophia and Evie.
But about two weeks ago, they only saw one duck for a couple days. Lyndsey’s husband went and checked in the woods and we saw a big pile of feathers and they knew some sort of wildlife got to it.
Just as it would for any human, grief came for Sophia because Evie was gone. Sophia needed a companion for the season or it would take her next and it inspired some matchmaking.
The Facebook post read: Single female. Loves long walks by the pond. Bright orange feet. Soon enough, Lyndsey was scrolling through hundreds of offers.
Sophia’s prints in the freshly fallen snow were joined by the webbed feet of Lucy AND Goosey, proudly named once again by Lyndsey’s daughter.
