K103 Things To Do & Watch This Weekend May 31-June 2

Saturday evening will be a busy one downtown with two major events bringing 100-thousand people to the area!

The Timbers are hosting The Houston Dynamo at Providence Park starting at 7:30pm and The CareOregon Starlight Parade kicks off at 8pm starting at Waterfront Park and disbanding near Providence Park. So parking will be extremely limited. The Rose Festival and the Timbers are advising people to use MAX, buses or bikes to get downtown. If you do need to drive, give yourself extra time to find parking north of Burnside or near PSU and walk.

You can also watch The Starlight Parade on FOX 12 Oregon. Make sure to watch for iHeart Radio in the parade!

And don't forget the annual fun run just prior to the parade. The 47th Annual Starlight Run starts at 6:30 at Naito Parkway and follows the same route as the parade (above).

Looking for a more chill vibe? Take a walk or a hike. We have 279 parks and natural areas in Portland. 91% of Portland residents live within a 10 minute walk (or less) of a park.

Oregon State Parks Day is this Saturday, June 1st. Everyone can fish, clam and crab for free this weekend in Oregon without fishing, shellfish licenses or tags on June 1st or 2nd. You do need to following regulations, closures and bag limits. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has increased stocking of rainbow trout in ponds and lakes. Oregon State Parks also offers free parking and camping on Saturday June 1st.

Powell’s will host its first major warehouse sale in about 20 years. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2, the world’s largest independent bookstore will open its Northwest Portland warehouse’s inventory so the public can secure exclusive deals.

Sneakerheads there's a cool exhibit right now at Portland Art Museum.

NASCAR is at PIR this weekend.

Portland Indigenous Market will take place Saturday and Sunday from 10a-3p in the PSU Native American Student and Community Center.

SURVIVOR is hosting a casting call Saturday at Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City. If you can believe it, the reality competition just wrapped season FOURTY SIX! Not only is it still on the air, it killed in the ratings, #1 in the three big demos aged 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. Survivor hasn't seen those kind of numbers since season 2 in 2000-2001. Think you can Outlast, Outwit and Outplay the competition? Prepare NOW with a video. All the details here.
