You probably know by now that I'm an avid kayaker. I have a wonderful Wilderness Systems 14.5 foot kayak that I've been using for the past 3 years, but it was so darn heavy to load at 54 pounds, I kept the Wilderness, but I decided I needed something lighter. So, late last summer I went online & found a used Eddyline "Equinox" 14 foot kayak in my favorite color, orange & weighing only 45 pounds, which makes a huge difference when loading. I took it on its maiden voyage last Friday, on the Willamette River, launching at the ramp under the St. Johns Bridge. With a smaller cockpit than my other kayak, I was concerned about getting in it. The getting in went just fine & the kayaking was spectacular because it tracks so well, but when we got back to the launch ramp & I went to get out, the winds pushed me against the dock when I was sitting on the back of the boat about to stand up in the water, & I got dunked. I've never had that happen before. All in all, it was a great day & I am so grateful for all of the wonderful places we have nearby that we can go kayaking.
