You probably know by now that I'm a breast cancer survivor, in fact, this marks my 19th year...I am blessed!
After literally raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the ten years of fundraising for Susan G. Komen, I have decided to join the ranks of people who support and fundraise for Pink Lemonade Project, a local non-profit headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, who raises money to support local people with breast cancer. With our local Komen affiliate being eliminated, I wasn't confident that the money raised here, would stay here. With Pink Lemonade Project, I know it will. They are a much smaller organization, but they are doing great things. Several people from our dissolved Komen affiliate are now working with Pink Lemonade Project.
The event I'm involved with is their "Girlfriends Run for a Cure", happening Sunday, October 10th in Vancouver. Unfortunately, I have a previous family commitment out of town that weekend, and will not be able to attend. But because I have confidence in what Pink Lemonade Project is doing, I will be fundraising. I also did establish Team Janine, and it is listed on their website, as well as me as an individual.
