A guy in Maine just connected with his biological father for the first time . . . and he dressed as BUDDY THE ELF to meet him. And even though his biological dad was thrilled to see him, it turned out he'd never seen"Elf", so he was pretty confused about the bit.
Doug Henning from Eliot, Maine grew up in an adopted family. But after putting in quite a bit of work on Ancestry.com, he managed to connect with his biological dad, Raul, who flew from Colombia to Boston to meet Doug for the first time over Thanksgiving.
Doug says, "He probably thought I was a lunatic. [But] it was a really good way to break the ice."
And ultimately, both of them say it was great.
