It's Stacey and Mike Join us at 7:10 mornings to see if YOU know "that song."

Today’s artist is already predicted to have the biggest album of 2021 by Variety magazine and it’s not even out yet. Written three hours after a breakup with her then boyfriend, today’s song is about her life and relationships in the years following her success. "I was angry!" she says. “...[But] I've grown up a little as well, and I like to think I've blossomed into who I'm going to become.”

Rolling Stone named this song as the best single of 2011 and they also named the album, 21 the best album of the year AND the song ranked 8th on their list of best songs of the entire 21st Century!

The magazine's editors described the tune as the "breakup scorcher to beat all breakup scorchers."

According to Billboard, this was the biggest crossover song of the last 25 years, showing up on 12 different radio airplay formats - even Latin. The publication also declared it the best-selling song of 2011. In the US it charted on Billboard's Adult Contemporary, Alternative Songs, Hot Dance Club Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Rock Songs, Pop Songs and Adult Pop Songs charts, topping the latter two.

When asked for stories about this song and album, studio engineer Mark Rankin recalled how today’s superstar laid down her vocals for this song in comfort.

"She would be writing, on the sofa with her dog on her lap," he remembered. "At one point she goes, 'I've got something, let's give it a go.' So we swung a microphone around to her. She didn't move from the sofa and she sang two takes of [this song]... and that was it, that's what is on the record. It really was that good."

The song is remains in rarefied air as only the 2nd in Grammy history to win Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Short Form Music Video, behind We Are The World.

If you guessed Adele's Rolling In The Deep, you're right.
