Stacey & Mike's Happy News: Man Survives Shark Attack, Makes Tooth Trophy

A 20-year-old guy from South Africa named Angus barely survived a vicious shark attack this year while snorkeling in French Polynesia.

He spotted the shark and tried to use a weighted pole he was using in diving practice to scare it off. But the pole bounced off the shark, and Angus says the animal 'clamped' down on his left arm and began ripping it to shreds.

To free himself, Angus says he had to use a safety dive knife he was carrying on his right thigh to stab the creature in its gills.

He was flown by the French military to a hospital in Tahiti to undergo a five-hour emergency surgery to reconstruct his nerves and limb. Doctors pulled one of the shark's teeth out of his left arm, and he decided to own the experience by making himself a "trophy."

Angus says surgeons had to remove multiple shark's teeth from his arm but fortunately they were able to save his arm during the operation.
