A Maltese mix puppy, now called Hudson, was found swimming in the East River in Lower Manhattan back in March.
Hudson was fished out by Jared Desalvo of the Harbor Unit and taken to the Animal Care Center where she was treated for a respiratory infection.
NYPD officers had been appealing for the pups' owners to come forward but no one has come forward.
But the good news is that this week, the NYPD announced Jared, the rescuer, has officially adopted Hudson after a six-week search for the dog’s original owner.
