A website called Purrli.com has created an artificial purring engine that lets you play customizable cat purrs anytime you need a little comfort (or your cat does!).
You can tweak the purr to be more playful or sleepy, and even mimic that classic “you stopped petting me too soon” rapid-fire purr cats do when they want more attention.
Turns out, it’s not just fun: it actually helps people and animals chill out. One person who fosters kittens said they played the purring for three tiny motherless kittens, and when they checked back later, the kittens were all snoozing contently around the speaker.
Another user, a college freshman, said it’s helped calm them down during panic attacks…just five minutes of the gentle purring can ease the tension right out of their shoulders.
