After going missing for nine long days in the wilds of Southcentral Alaska, a 10-year-old chocolate lab named Koda was finally reunited with his owners.
Koda had gotten spooked and slipped out of his collar during a Fourth of July camping trip and disappeared into rugged terrain that was nearly impossible to search without a boat or plane.
Just when hope was starting to fade, Anchorage pilot John Kagerer saw a Facebook post and flew to the area, landed his plane, and within minutes, spotted Koda coming out of the brush.
With the help of a few milk bones, John gained the Koda’s trust and flew him safely back to Anchorage for a joyful reunion. Koda is now home, a little scratched up and underweight but already back to playing with his favorite frisbee.
