The Vanport Jazz Festival features some of the biggest names in jazz at The University of Portland.

The Chinese Festival is this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Pioneer Courthouse Square. The festival is free to attend. Cultural exhibits showcase Chinese art, history and gifts. There are lots of kids activities, including origami, Chinese calligraphy, ink painting and more. Food options include barbecue pork buns, steamed dumplings, spring rolls, musubi, skewers, pot stickers, cold noodles, tea and more.

Starting Friday, the annual Dahlia Festival is in bloom at Swan Island Dahlias in Canby. Stroll through nearly 50 acres of rainbows of dahlia fields, eat some mini cider doughnuts, sip on some fresh squeezed lemonade, peruse the gift shop, take a floral arranging class, do some evening yoga in the flower fields, enjoy live music on the weekends—and, of course, take a bouquet of fresh-cut dahlias home with you. 

Are a Ross? Saturday is the Northwest Fossil Fest, celebrating 20 years of paleontology discoveries. You and your family can spend the day learning about fossils, fossil collecting, and identification. It’s a free, family friendly event with displays, demonstrations, and educational fun for children at Tualatin Heritage Center.
