Stacey & Mike's Happy News: Daughter Helps Dad Find Purpose Through Letters

Starting back in the fourth grade, Rosie Paulik’s dad, Buz Ecker, began sending her a handwritten letter every single day. Over the years, those notes piled up to more than 3,500, filled with everything from little life lessons to the occasional dad joke.

Now at 67, Rosie noticed her dad feeling a little aimless after finally finishing his doctorate. She had an idea: why not share his gift for heartfelt letters with the world?

She posted a TikTok to test the waters, and the response was overwhelming. More than 1,200 requests for letters have poured in from people needing a fatherly voice.

That’s how the “Dad Letter Project” was born. Every morning, Buz sits down and writes about ten letters straight from the heart, sometimes with a corny joke tucked inside. Whether it’s going out to a third-grade class in West Virginia, a stranger in Italy, or someone simply needing to hear “you’re doing great!”
