A 95-year-old named Frank Uryasz Jr. is a resident at the Remington Heights Retirement Community in Omaha. He was talking to a worker one day who expressed disappointment that Swift had never responded to any of her fan letters. Frank wanted to do something about it.
He started a Taylor Swift fan club and worked to spread the word as far and wide as he could. Membership kept snowballing, from 10 members to 20 and, soon, into the triple digits.
In fact, so many people wanted to join that Frank had to add some membership stipulations: If you’re not a resident of Remington, someone has to sponsor you.
Then his friends wanted one, and it grew from there. Now they're all Swifties, and the club has over 100 people in it.
