Seven years after disappearing during a burglary, a Tampa woman has finally been reunited with her beloved dog, Luca. Gabrielle Hartley came home from work in 2018 to find her apartment broken into and her dog missing.
Fast forward to this month, when a Tampa police officer spotted a skinny, friendly pup wandering in the road. A quick scan of his microchip confirmed the incredible news: this lost dog had found his way back home after seven long years…Gabrielle had kept paying the subscription the whole time because she never gave up hope.
Luca’s journey hadn’t been easy: he was underweight and suffering from several health issues, but he’s now getting the care he needs and plenty of love at home. Hartley says she believes he was used for breeding and later abandoned, but despite everything, he’s still the same sweet dog who loves strawberries and peanut butter.
When he climbed onto her bed and licked her hand like old times, she said she could tell he finally felt safe again.
